Legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu will be laid to rest today, Friday, August 30, 2024, in Lagos State.
The music icon breathed her last on July 30, 2024, after collapsing at an event honouring Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals. She died at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos at the age of 72.
Onyeka Onwenu, referred to as ‘The Elegant Stallion’ will be buried today, as announced by the family.

According to CKN News, the funeral service will take place at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi.
The funeral flyer also revealed that the Service of Songs takes place from 10 am to 12 noon while the burial will be from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Besides being a renowned musician during her lifetime, Onyeka Onwenu was also an actress, appearing in numerous Nollywood films.
She also ventured into politics, contesting twice to become the Local Council Chairman of her Local Government, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
