He capped his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Systems Engineering from Middlesex University Malta, completed online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hagull Limited was born from personal frustration with high exchange rates while paying tuition fees abroad. “When my brother was studying in Ukraine and our parents were also paying fees for me at Middlesex Malta, they struggled with these costly payments,” Erugo shared. “Together, we realized many others faced the same problem. That inspired us to turn this idea into a startup to solve a larger, widespread issue.”
Before founding Hagull, Erugo gained valuable experience working with fintech and technology companies such as Credit Clan, Cerebral Hub, Salvex in Houston, Sycamore, and Nobus Cloud Services. These roles sharpened his expertise and exposed him to global financial technology challenges and opportunities. Armed with these insights, he co-founded Hagull Limited with a vision to provide user-friendly solutions that bridge the gap between traditional banking and emerging digital platforms.
Under his leadership, Hagull has created a fintech marketplace offering multiple transaction types, including fiat to crypto, crypto to fiat, fiat to fiat, and crypto to crypto exchanges. The platform prioritizes security and efficiency while maintaining a seamless user experience. Beyond its core services, Hagull plans to expand into decentralized finance banking, renewable energy projects, real estate, and agricultural technology.
“This recognition is a call to do more,” Erugo said regarding his inclusion among the 100 Iconic Personalities of the Year. “At Hagull Limited, we are committed to building solutions that bridge financial gaps and create real impact across Africa and beyond. This honor reflects the collective efforts of our team and our vision to make a lasting difference.”
He added, “What inspires me most is knowing that the work we do at Hagull touches lives. Every transaction we facilitate, every tool we build, is aimed at giving people more control over their financial future.” Reflecting on the broader role of technology, he explained, “I see technology as a bridge. It connects people, breaks barriers, and opens up opportunities that were once out of reach. That is the essence of why I do what I do.”
Erugo’s inclusion on this prestigious list underscores the influence of young African leaders who are addressing critical challenges through innovation. His story highlights how persistence, vision, and adaptability can turn ideas into impactful solutions. Through his continued work at Hagull Limited, Erugo exemplifies how technology can drive both social and economic transformation.
