Man admits stealing clothes in Osun, bags 2 months jail

A 28-year-old man, Aliu Jamie, has admitted stealing clothes spread on rope at Legacy Hotel, Okinni, Egbedore Local Government of Osun State and he was subsequently sentenced to two months imprisonment. The convict was arraigned by the police prosecutor, Oluokun Babatunde, before Magistrate Adebola Odeleye.

The prosecutor told the court that the convict committed the crime on Monday, 15th September, 2025, around 9pm.

He explained that the convict stole four T-shirts and two knickers, property of one Akanji Joshua, and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap.34 vol. II Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The prosecutor tendered the stolen clothes and the confessional statement of the convict as exhibits before the court.

The convict who claimed to be a bricklayer and had no legal representative, admitted guilty, saying that he stole because he couldn’t afford to buy clothes.

Magistrate Odeleye subsequently sentenced him to two months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine.
