Onions blockade won’t cow south east from fighting for true federalism, restructuring says Ohanaeze Ndigbo .

Ohanaeze

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has condemned the blockade of onions to South East, adding that such obnoxious move will not stop the region from fighting for restructuring and true federalism where equity will reign.

In a statement, Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio cultural group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro said it has  observed that there is a considerable collaboration between  certain cabal from the north with the sole pursuit of unleashing chaos on southeastern Nigeria, One of such plan was the blockade of onions to the South East.

According to Isigwuzoro, “Specific reports reinforced our suspicions that there are craftily designed conspiracies against the Southeast by the North  to destablise the region, otherwise, how do we reconcile the vituperative rhetoric of Chief Audu Ogbeh, National Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, calling the shots that” Northerners should vacate  the Southeast? And the warning to deal with the southeast with another civil war experience by President Muhammadu Buhari?, or is it the constant menaces of Meyitti Allah to forcefully occupy our lands and forests?, how can Minister of Justice, Mr. Malami compare  the nefarious activities of killer herdsmen to the peaceful Igbo spare parts dealers in the North?, or the repeated episodes of sabotage to cut off supplies of onions to the southeast after a recent showdown was resolved by Kogi Governor. All of these conspiracy theories were incubated against Igbos for political and economic purposes, which is the handiwork of the cartel driving the policies of this regime.”

The statement further applauded the synergies between the middle belt and southern Nigeria folks adding that together they will survive all these insecurity challenges and come out even stronger than ever.

“Those behind the sabotage to cut off onions supply to the southeast are penalizing poor northern farmers and we will not instigate palm oil producers to sabotage the supply to the North, two wrongs can’t make it right, all the provocative actions against the southeast is a wake-up call for the Igbo to take their time so as not to fall into trap set by the enemy of Ndigbo”, he said.
