One  commuter was feared dead and many injured  in Aba, Abia State, following the collapse of a gigantic commercial bill board erected at the Salad Market Junction, on Aba-Owerri Road.

The incident occured on Wednesday afternoon following heavy downpour in the city.

A source from the area disclosed that more than nine commercial tricycles, some with their operators and passengers were trapped under the collapsed billboard.

“The affected tricycles belonged to operators plying from Aba-Owerri road junction through the salad market who use that spot as their loading bay.

“The  deceased and injured were operators, who were waiting for their turns to load and passengers that had boarded the commercial tricycles and were waiting to embark on their journeys.”

Passengers and drivers of commercial vehicles plying the Aba-Owerri Road were not left out as the failing bill board equally collapsed on some of them.

The incident also damaged electricity high tension cables,causing  total darkness in the area.
