A survivor of a recent kidnapping incident in Akure, Ondo State, has recounted the traumatic ordeal she and her colleagues endured, revealing that the victims were stripped naked and forced to surrender their money.

Omolabake Kayode, one of three health workers kidnapped early Saturday from a Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in Oke Ijebu, recounted her traumatic ordeal to journalists.

She said the attackers stormed the government-owned facility around 2 am, arriving in a bus and overpowering staff on duty.

According to her, some workers attempted to hide but were dragged out, beaten, and dispossessed of their phones before she and two others were taken away.

“They came in a bus, barged into the centre, and grabbed us. Some of my colleagues ran and hid inside the toilets, but the attackers dragged them out, beat them, and collected their phones,” she said while speaking with our correspondent on Saturday in Akure.

The Ondo kidnap victim, Kayode, disclosed that the gunmen transported them to a bush along the Akure-Ondo expressway, where the victims were subjected to further humiliation.

“They told us to lie down and demanded our bank codes and app details. They transferred everything from all our accounts, collected our phones, naked us and warned us not to raise our heads, saying they would kill us,” she said.

She also said that after the attackers collected all they had, they fled and left the victims stranded and terrified in the bush.

“After a while, they drove off and left us naked in the bush. My shirt fell off, so I picked it and wore it. We were terrified for our lives,” she narrated.

Kayode said they eventually gathered themselves and walked to a nearby correctional facility in Olokuta, where officers alerted local security operatives.

“We were scared, but we had to keep moving. The officers contacted Amotekun, and that’s how we were rescued,” she said.

The Corps Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that the victims were rescued around 4:30 am and are currently receiving treatment at an Amotekun health facility.

Adeleye also disclosed that operatives rescued a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were abducted on Friday evening at the Pelebe community along Oda Road in Akure, following a confrontation with their captors.
