Acting Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Malachi Coker has adjourned plenary indefinitely.

Coker, who spoke with newsmen after a meeting with members loyal to him, said the decision was taken in line with advice by security agencies.

He said the assembly complex has been sealed off by the police, on the order of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris.

Coker, however, urged the police not to take sides in the crisis rocking the House of Assembly, just as he advised members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), in particular, not to involve themselves in the crisis.

Also, Coker advised members of his faction to stay off the House of Assembly complex pending further directives by the police.

It was, however, not clear as at press time whether or not the faction loyal to the leadership of Mrs Jumoke Akindele will also boycott plenary.

The Assembly had since last month been embroiled in crisis leading to the emergence of two speakers.

The two factional speakers, Akindele and Coker have continued to lay claim to the speakership of the House
