Ondo: APC stakeholders in Owo allege anti-party activities

There is tension within the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo, Ondo State as a group has accused supporters of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo of anti-party activities.

Acting under the aegis of Concerned APC Stakeholders in Owo, the group alleged that the minister’s camp has been involved with sponsorship of the Accord Party in Owo Local Government Area.

It said this “strategic double game” was capable of dismantling the ruling party’s influence in Owo.

According to the stakeholders, the minister’s camp is maintaining federal elite status within the APC while simultaneously financing opposition candidates under the Accord Party banner to defeat official APC flag bearers in Ondo State.

In Owo, the group alleged, the minister’s camp is surreptitiously backing Accord Party’s Obanoyen Sikiru Abiola (Adidas) for Ondo State Member House of Assembly, Owo Constituency 1, and Fatai Lawal Olushina for Ondo State House of Assembly, Owo Constituency 2.

Olushina was described as a “very strong member of B.T.O group in Owo Local Government”.

The stakeholders warned that the situation if not addressed could cause division and negatively affect President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in Owo.

The group asserted that there has been a marked reduction in Tunji-Bello-affiliated groups working for Tinubu’s re-election while pro-Accord Party groups have skyrocketed.

“This may affect APC mobilisation capacity in Ondo State ahead of the presidential election in 2027,” the group stressed.

While naming several members of the B.T.O group allegedly involved, the stakeholders emphasised that local coordination for this “anti-party agenda” is being driven by visible party insiders.

They alleged that 22 ward executives across each of the 11 wards in Owo Local Government have the minister’s backing.

The stakeholders called on loyal APC members, the state government, and national party leaders to investigate this situation, reiterating that anti-party activities by prominent individuals would cause division that could affect APC votes in 2027 polls.
