On The Highway Africa , a leading advocate for Road Safety, recently flagged off its annual awareness campaign, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to promote safe driving practices and reduce road traffic crashes.
In her welcome address, Julie Chi-Nwaoha, founder and publisher of On The Highway Africa, called on the community to take ownership of road safety, emphasizing that it should not be left to uniformed personnel alone.
“We must assist by obeying traffic rules and driving defensively,” she said. She also appealed for more support from individuals and organizations, highlighting the increasing costs of being on the highway every day.
Sector Commander Lagos Corp Commander Kehinde Hamzat, emphasized the importance of collaboration in promoting road safety. The keynote address, delivered by Deputy Corps Commander (DCC) Umaru M. Bamaiyi, highlighted the need for collective action to reduce road crashes.
Notable speakers included Engr. Isaac Uhunmwagho, Chairman of Efex Motors, who shared his 50 years of experience in the transportation subsector, advising that road safety should be more proactive. Other panelists, including Moses Ebosele and Moses Akaigwe, contributed valuable insights.
The event featured a demonstration on CPR and victim resuscitation by the Red Cross Society. The flag-off ceremony was supported by WestStar Associates, SMT Africa, FGL Autos, Jetour Nigeria, and Work and Play Promotions.
