Former Commissioner for Education under the government of Adegboyega Oyetola in Osun State, Folorunso Bamisayemi, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bamisayemi, an ally of Senator Iyiola Omisore, in a letter addressed to the APC ward chairman, Kere ward 09, Ife South Local Government, Ifetedo and dated June 1, wrote: “I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress. Please, note that the resignation takes immediate effect.”
Prior to his appointment as commissioner, he had earlier represented the Ife South constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, where he also chaired the House Committee on Education.
When contacted, he confirmed that he had left the APC but he did not disclose the party he was moving to.
He said: “I want to settle down first to think of what to do next.”
There are rumours that Omisore is also planning to quit the APC following his disqualification from the governorship race.
Efforts by party leaders to persuade him to remain in the party have not yielded good results as some of his allies were said to have perfected plans to leave the APC.
