The Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has commended the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas for his determination to ensure a constitutional role for traditional rulers.
The monarch lauded the speaker for his speech during his visit to the Emir of Zazzau, HRH. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, just as he advised the Senate President, Godwin Akpabio to cooperate and support the legislation establishing the Federal Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs.
A statement by Oluwo made available to journalists through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, on Sunday, expressed delight over the promise made by the speaker that he would revisit the bill empowering traditional rulers constitutionally.
“With this noble assurance to the crowns, you have started well and you will be the best Speaker of the House of Representatives just like President Tinubu. Everyone is writing a history and yours is a good start.
“I especially commend him for his remarks and vow to revisit and ensure speedy proceedings on the bill creating a constitutional role for monarchs.
“I seek the support of the upper chamber, Senate, most specifically the Senate President, Godwin Akpabio to cooperate and support the bill.”
Oluwo who restated that the direct involvement of traditional rulers in the administrative setup will address many challenges most especially insecurity, said “My craving for the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs will domesticate governance because the closest to the grassroots are involved.”
