The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has inspected preparations for his fifth coronation anniversary in Okere, Warri, Delta State.
The monarch carried out the on-the-spot assessment during his morning fitness routine, riding an electric scooter through the area while accompanied by members of his security team.
A video of the inspection, shared on the monarch’s Facebook page on Saturday, showed him moving through the area as preparations for the anniversary continued.
The post was captioned: “His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, as part of his fitness regimen, this morning conducted an on-the-spot assessment tour of preparations towards the coming 5th Coronation anniversary.”
Residents and other members of the public who encountered the monarch hailed and cheered him as he moved around the area.
His appearance also generated reactions on Facebook, with several users commending what they described as his accessibility and demeanour.
One user, Iniobong Esen, praised the monarch’s approach to leadership, saying, “This is how leaders are supposed to be admired, not inside an atomic bomb-proof vehicle but openly and freely moving around to inhale the air of positive and negative condition of his people.”
Another user, Avwerosuo Amos Govina, described Atuwatse as a “king” with “class and charisma”, while Enujeke Prosper referred to him as “the Digital king with a difference.”
The Olu of Warri is expected to mark his fifth year on the throne with a series of activities.
The monarch has previously attracted public attention for choosing an electric scooter for some public appearances instead of a traditional motorcade.
In March 2025, he was reported to have ridden a scooter through his ancestral home, Ode-Itsekiri, where residents cheered him.
He also attracted attention in December 2025 after riding an electric scooter while inspecting a newly completed road in Delta State.
