The ONIDIRI FESTIVAL will feature Hair Heritage Beauty, a new theatrical production written and directed by Olanrewaju Balogun, on August 23, 2025, at Community House, South Street, Bromley, BR1 1RH.

Set in a small Yoruba kingdom, the play follows Prince Adekunle—played by Balogun—whose carefree pursuits are cut short when he unexpectedly inherits the throne. His journey from impulsive youth to responsible ruler unfolds with emotional depth, guided by Balogun’s restrained and symbolic direction.

A central thread of the story is Adekunle’s connection with a graceful maiden marked by her long natural hair and shared cowrie necklace. Their bond becomes a symbol of destiny, healing, and personal rebirth. The romance is rendered with subtlety, offering an intimate portrayal of love rooted in cultural heritage.

Hair Heritage Beauty reflects Balogun’s long-standing belief in theatre as a force for unity and social impact. With over a decade of experience in performance and conflict-resolution work across Nigeria, he consistently explores themes of resilience and community. His UK-based organisation, HOME OF VESSELS, extends this mission by nurturing young creatives and supporting work related to autism and dementia.

Balogun’s artistic leadership underpinned by his theatre background and MBA from York St John University—continues to shape meaningful storytelling on and beyond the stage.
