The Okpurughre Foundation for Education and Sports Development has launched a large-scale initiative to support education in Ethiope West, distributing over 100 million writing materials across schools in the region.
The distribution began in Oghareki, where the foundation’s team visited eight schools, bringing joy to young learners. The initiative, dedicated to the memory of Late Pa.
Ufuoma Okpurughre, aims to reach all 48 primary schools and select secondary schools within Ethiope West, with plans to extend the gesture to neighboring local government areas.
As part of the initiative, each pupil from Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6 received at least five exercise books, a pencil, a pen, a sharpener, an eraser, and a ruler. In total, the foundation is distributing 70,000 pieces of 80-leaf exercise books, 70,000 pieces of 60-leaf exercise books, 30,000 pieces of 40-leaf exercise books, 40,000 pieces of 2A and 2B exercise books, and 20,000 drawing books. Additionally, 20,000 rulers, pens, erasers, pencils, and sharpeners were donated to enhance students’ learning experiences.
Beyond academics, the foundation is also supporting sports development by donating 100 high-quality footballs and 500 jerseys to schools. This initiative underscores their commitment to fostering both education and extracurricular activities among students.
The leadership of the Okpurughre Foundation reaffirmed their dedication to uplifting education in the region, stating that their mission is to provide children with the resources they need to excel.
The generous donation has been met with excitement from students and appreciation from teachers, parents, and community members.
