AN Abuja-based Anioma group, Delta North Unity Initiative (DNUI), has urged the people of Delta State to come out en masse on March 9, to vote for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The group, which claimed to be non-partisan, said Okowa’s re-election will maintain the unity, peace and equitable development of the state.
Addressing newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, DNUI’s President, Emmanuel Ehikwe, observed that the state enjoyed an atmosphere of enduring peace, unity and progress because of the principle of equity, through power rotation, introduced with the inauguration of the state’s second democratic governor, James Ibori, in 1999.
He said Ibori, from Delta central, was supported to do two terms of eight years before Emmanuel Uduaghan was also supported to complete his unbroken eight years for the South.
According to him, apart from the unwritten rotational arrangement which, at the moment, favours Okowa, from the North, to do another term, the governor’s performance in the past three and half years should, ordinarily, earn him re-election.
