…Constitutes 18-member committee

The Pere of Okomu Kingdom in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, HRM Pius Yanbor, has requested the support and help of eight traditional rulers of an Ijaw extraction to intervene and settle the lingering crisis rocking the kingdom.
In a statement made available to Journalists in Benin, titled: “The power of attorney to resolve the lingering crises in Okomu Kingdom, he said the crises have been on for the past three years.
HRM Yanbor said no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour and that the community must look for a way to resolving its crises for the overall wellbeing of all.
Yanbor said in pursuance of a lasting solution and peace for the community, he has reached out to the HRM William Ogoba, HRM Zacheus Egbunu, HRM King Capt. Frank Okiakpe, HRM Joel Ibane and HRM Godwin Ogunoyibo.
Others are HRM Gbebokedi Ajirioba, HRM Roman Ikiyouseigha Bohan and HRM Stephen Oyabebefa Ebikeme, to help look into the immediate and remote cause of the problem with a view of finding solutions.
Accepting the offer to broker peace in the kingdom, in a statement entitled “Memo of acceptance and commitment to support resolving the crises in Okomu Kingdom”, signed by the eight traditional rulers, HRM William Ogoba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, said that they have joyfully accepted the task and would give it their all to ensure that peace return to the warring Kingdom.
According to him on behalf of the other traditional rulers, “On receipt of the request from our brother traditional ruler, HRM, Pius Yanbor who is the paramount traditional ruler of Okomu Kingdom, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, we the undersigned traditional rulers of Ijaw extraction, have unanimously aligned in agreement to take a deep dive into the crises that have been rocking and bedeviling Okomu Kingdom for the past three years, with a view to providing respite and bringing lasting peace to the aforementioned kingdom.
“This alignment however, is a fallout of series of robust engagements amongst well-meaning and revered monarchs of ljaw extraction, whose primary role in their various kingdoms is to foster peace and unity.
“In the light and spirit of brokering peace in Okomu Kingdom, we the Monarchs of Ijaw extraction on this call, commit to providing the necessary supports within our powers and work within the ambit of the law to ensure peace and harmony returns to Okomu Kingdom”, he said.
To expedite the action for the return of peace to the community, the eight traditional rulers further set up an 18-member Peace and Conflicts Resolution Committee, headed by Chief Ajele Sunday.
They are saddled with the sole responsibility of wading into the matter with a view to bringing lasting solution and harmony to the troubled kingdom.
