Oilserv enters Gabon oil, gas market with new hydrocarbon deal

Nigeria’s Oilserv Group, has expanded its continental footprint with a strategic agreement with the Gabonese Government to develop and commercialise hydrocarbon reserves in the DEF-3 and D4-5 blocks, with gas infrastructure expected to support power generation and industrial development.

The Memorandum of Agreement signed with the Gabonese Government establishes a framework for the development of the identified assets and the deployment of critical infrastructure for gas transportation, compression and treatment.

The partnership positions Oilserv at the intersection of upstream resource development and midstream infrastructure, as Gabon seeks to convert its hydrocarbon resources into reliable domestic energy and broader economic value.

The company said the agreement is expected to support Gabon’s growing energy ambitions and contribute to the development of a market projected to reach $2.12 billion by 2031.

Under the agreement, Oilserv will bring its engineering and infrastructure capabilities to the development of systems required to move and process gas from the identified assets, with thermal power generation identified as a key area of application.

Signing on behalf of the Gabonese Government, the Minister of Petroleum and Gas, Clotaire Kondja, said the partnership would strengthen cooperation and create opportunities for greater business engagement across Africa.

Kondja also called for more flexible and business-friendly policies across the continent, particularly to address skills shortages and capital flight.

He said creating conditions that attract investment, retain capital and build local capabilities would be critical to accelerating infrastructure development and strengthening African economies.

For Oilserv Group Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Emeka Okwuosa, the Gabon agreement marks the company’s expansion into a new market and reflects its broader transition from conventional project delivery to integrated energy solutions.

Okwuosa said the partnership places Oilserv at the intersection of resource development, energy infrastructure, gas monetisation and national energy security.
