Ohanaeze to Buhari: What Ndigbo wants from you is fatherly love not

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement on social media over insecurity in the in the South East describing it as unfortunate.

In a statement, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro urge Buhari to quickly rescind the threats of repeating the episode of the civil war experience which killed over 3 million Igbo people and wreaked havoc on Igbo properties. He said instead of threats and reference to civil war, Mr. President should tender an unreserved apology to Ndigbo, for loss suffered during the civil war.

While calling on President Buhari to be fair in dealing with the Igbo, Isiguzoro said: “We are using this channel to remind President Buhari that killer herdsmen and Northern bandits have been wreaking havoc in the North East and all they got as reprimand was amnesty and compensation.

“The recent provocative onslaught against the southeast by unknown gunmen’ and arson may not be unconnected with earlier warning by the international community that government agents were sponsoring bandits to destablise the South east.

The statement further said Ohanaeze are solidly behind the southeast Governors in their efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

“In this regards, President Buhari should scheduled to meet with South East governors and leaders including youths and agitators, this exhibition of love are what Nigerians expect from Buhari, not civil war a.

” Just as Federal Government honored the Yoruba nation through MKO Abiola by the declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day to heal the psyche and wounds of the past, Southeast should be honored on June 12 Democracy Day through Presidential pardon and amnesty for all repentant Biafra agitators. This is what is expected of a fatherly president and not opening the wounds of genocide caused by 30 months of Civil War “.
