…Warn impostors to stay away
From Tony John, Port Harcourt
The state chapter presidents of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide have commended the President-General, Senator John Mbata and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) for intervening and finally laying the dispute in the Lagos State chapter to rest.
The commendation was contained in a statement released to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, signed by all the state chapter presidents who are: Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu (Anambra), Chris Obialor (Imo), Chukwuemeka Okwuonu (Abia), Justice Chibuzor (Ebonyi), Ben Igunbor (Delta), and Livingstone Wechie (Rivers).
They said the intervention and resolution of the leadership crisis by the President-General and NEC members was a milestone in Igbo unification project.
“We count this step as a milestone in the Igbo unification project led by the President-General. It is at the heart of Igbo progress and development that Ndi-Igbo all over the world should unite and pursue our collective growth with patriotic zeal and commitment.”
The state chapter presidents charged all stakeholders in Lagos to ensure that the resolution leading to the settlement of the crisis is obeyed.
Also, the state presidents urged them to ensure pending court cases are dispensed with and all-inclusive election conducted on or before April, 2026 as agreed.
They prayed that the peace achieved in Lagos Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo chapter would herald end of leadership tussle at all levels.
“Furthermore, we charge Chief Solomon Aguene, the President to rally stakeholders to mobilize Ndi-Igbo in Lagos State to ensure that in keeping with the directive and resolution at the settlement meeting presided by our dear President-General, that all pending litigation should be dispensed with and an all-inclusive Ohanaeze election at the Lagos State chapter should be conducted between now and April 2026 as agreed.
“It is our irreducible minimum resolve that the resolutions at the meeting and directive by the President-General must be complied with strictly as doing otherwise under any guise will not be acceptable.
“It is our prayer that this success recorded in Lagos should herald the end of the reckless factionalisation of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide at all levels. We must all acknowledge that our strength is in our unity. As we say, Igwebuike!”
They declared that the only recognized leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide is the one led by Senator Mbata and warned individuals misleading members of the public for political patronage to desist forthwith.
They stated: “May we further state that the only Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide leadership known to Ndi-Igbo is led by Senator John Mbata.
“All efforts to adulterate Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide for self-serving purposes and merchandising should be discountenanced.
“We warn strongly that Ndi-Igbo will no longer tolerate the shenanigans from those trading with Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide to mislead the unsuspecting public and to gain cheap political patronage.
“On this note, we call on all stakeholders in Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo and all Igbos across the world to come together and ensure that this era of leadership should be a turning point in Ala-Igbo.”
