The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Rivers State Chapter, has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to embark on massive infrastructure rehabilitation, focusing on internal roads, waste management, and healthcare as his administration winds down.
In a communiqué signed by Livingstone Wechie and other executives, issued after its General Assembly in Port Harcourt on Sunday, the group commended the Rivers State House of Assembly and the governor for the swift passage and assent of the 2026 Appropriation Act, describing it as “a blueprint for statewide development” and calling for transparent implementation.
Ohanaeze appealed: “We urge Governor Fubara to utilise the remaining months of his administration to address critical infrastructure gaps in Rivers State.”
The Assembly passed a vote of confidence in all security chiefs in the state, lauding the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for digital policing.
It, however, called for decisive action against the “One Chance” robbery in Port Harcourt and urged the Commissioner of Police to investigate security alerts by Niger Delta activist, “General” Gabriel Asabuja.
On 2027 politics, Ohanaeze demanded equal access to public facilities for all parties and issue-based campaigns.

It cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible polls and be held accountable.
The group declared that Ndigbo in Rivers will not vote for candidates who fail to protect Igbo interests and democratic values, and announced plans to engage all parties on their agenda for the state.
Ohanaeze said: “Ndigbo in Rivers State will not cast their votes for any candidate or party that fails to uphold democratic values and good governance.
“Empty rhetoric will not be tolerated, as the electorate expects substance and clear policy frameworks.”
The Assembly also passed a vote of confidence in Senator John Azuta Mbata, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
