…donates 5,000 glasses, six months drug packages

The senator representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has commenced free medical screening and eye tests for members of his constituency.
The medical screening which began in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, will see constituents in other four local government areas of Imeko-Afon, Ipokia, Yewa South and Yewa North, benefit from free screening and drugs for ailments such as diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis and eye problems.
The programme, facilitated by Adeola, who is also Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations is supported by the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology and National Productivity Centre.
During the 17 days medical outreach 5,000 free eye glasses tagged ‘Jigi Yayi’ will be given to the people diagnosed of sight challenges, while free drugs for six months package will also be handed over to the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the formal opening of the medical screening held at the Olota’s Palace, Ota, a former Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mufutau Ajibola, commended the senator for facilitating the medical outreach for the benefit of the Ogun West people.
He added that the programme will go a long way in providing medical succour for indigent indigenes of the senatorial district, urging people to troop out to benefit from the medical screening.
In his remarks, the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdul-Kabiru Adeyemi Obalanlege, expressed his delight at the programme aimed at bringing healthcare delivery closer to the people.
Represented by a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Nurudeen Akinpelu, the monarch lauded Adeola for facilitating a project that will improve the health of the Ogun West people.
Two of the beneficiaries, Mr Akinsola Olukayode and Mrs Ajise Margret, respectively described the medical screening as a “life saving”, submitting the programme will help in the provision of basic test and treatment of ailments, particularly among the elderly.
