The newly elected president of National Association of Yewa Students, Olabode Tayo, has called on the traditional rulers, political leaders, stakeholders and notable individuals in Ogun West Senatorial District to unite and ensure the senatorial district produces the governor in 2027.

Olabode, otherwise known as Ajanaku made this call in his inaugural speech shortly after he was sworn in as the president of the student association, in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area, on Friday.

The election which was observed by the NANS chairman, Ogun State Axis, Adeyanju Francis and the President of the National Association of the Ogun State Students (NAOSS) Kehinde Thomas, was also monitored by the operatives of the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Olabode will lead the other four executive members – senate president, Rufus Ajibiaran; Secretary, Oluwasola Jude; PRO, Adedeji Monsuru and Financial Secretary, Amosun Lydia – to pilot the affairs of the association for the next one year.

Olabode who noted that 2027 remains the best auspicious time for Ogun West to brink the jinx of over decades, urged the people to work together to actualize the long time aspiration of Yewaland.

He declared that without cooperation and mutual understanding among the people of Ogun West, the governorship seat will continue to elude the senatorial district.

He, however, commended the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, for his exemplary leadership style and urged him to continue to rally the support of traditional rulers in the other two senatorial districts towards the 2027 project.

Olabode further appealed to other traditional rulers in Yewaland to be unrepentantly committed to uniting all political interests in the senatorial district ahead of the general elections in 2027 in order to make the collective struggle of the Yewa people a complete success.

While commending the senator representing Ogun West at the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, for facilitating infrastructural projects capable of enhancing the socioeconomic development of the senatorial district, especially bursary awards to the students, the president declared that Yewa students both home and abroad will continue to rally support for the senator.

Olabode assured that during his tenure, the overall welfare of Yewa students will be given pride of place, submitting that his Exco will ensure transparency, equity, probity and accountability.
