The Deputy Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lukmon Atobatele, has called on the state government to pay special attention to increasing entrepreneurs and production in the state by supporting small and medium scale enterprises.
The lawmaker, who made the call in his yuletide message in Abeokuta, observed that the level of poverty in the country was gradually taking its toll on the people.
He said that, “the call has become so important at this time to create genuine solutions to some of the nation’s challenges as our people are finding it hard to celebrate and make ends meet.”
He argued that supporting and investing in the micro economy would boost production of more goods and services, thereby creating job opportunities.
According to him, “We must not lose sight of production in the areas of clothing such as adire, pottery, and manufacturing.
“The government must continue its efforts to create a conducive environment for business to thrive, as it is already doing. This would further boost the state’s internally generated revenue, create employment and reduce poverty among other benefits,” he added.
Atobatele, who is representing Abeokuta South State Constituency 1 in the House of Assembly, however, urged the people to use this festive period to show love, have sober reflections, exhibit hope and create solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting them as a people.
He equally admonished every individual to be his brother’s keeper by gifting others, just as Christ was a great gift to the world.
