Olaogun community, a suburb in Agbado, Ogun State is set to hold a fundraising for its health centre to commemorate the first edition of Olaogun Community Day under the aegis of Olaogun Area Community Development Committee in Ifo Local Government.

For many years, health facilities have eluded the inhabitants and the leadership of the community thought it wise to use the event to draw government attention to their basic needs.

Dignitaries expected at the launch include Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Ibrahin Ayokunle Isiaka; member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Fola Salami; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Idiat Adeleye; Chairman, Ifo Local Government Council, Mr Idris Kushimo and many others from private sector.

The event is designed  to amplify selfless service among residents, provides veritable platform to engage government, award deserving community leaders and volunteers and also position the community for future opportunities.

The keynote speaker would be the Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Ogun State, Ademola Balogun.

The celebration, which holds on Saturday, November 29, will also showcase culture and style. A testament of resilience and resolve of a people united to succeed in an area plagued with road infrastructural deficit.

A statement by the Chairman, Organising Committee, Olaogun Community Day 2025, Mr Odutayo Odusanya, stated the theme for the event centres on building wealth through infrastructure.

“We are expecting Ogun State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Ademola Balogun to deliver a keynote speech on ‘Implementation of Community Based Infrastructural Development in Enhancing Social and Economic Wealth.’

“Our community gathered money to buy a property to serve our medicare needs and also provide an accommodation for the security personnel.

“We hope to launch an appeal fund to remodel and refurbish the building. The chairman on the occasion will be a former chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Ikeja District Society, Mr Joshua Oderinde. There will be a cultural rally, awards and fashion parade by groups in the community.”

The event, which began in 2023 with focus on thanksgiving and women empowerment has long metamorphosed into Community Day, a celebration of community development advocates and achievers within and outside the community.
