The first reading session and writers’ dialogue of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Abuja chapter, will take place at the Mamman Vatsa Writers Village, Mpape, Abuja, on Saturday, January 27, 2023.
Lagos-based poet and polemicist, Odia Ofeimun, will be the Guest Writer as an impressive array of panelists is set to dissect the theme – “Odia Ofeimun and His Influence on Nigeria’s Literary Landscape.”
A release signed by Uthman Qasim, Secretary, ANA Abuja, informed that the gathering would be graced by some of the most respected personalities in the literary world.”
Among the panelists, he said, included “Professor Vicky Sylvester, a distinguished scholar specializing in African literature; the multi-talented Soonest Nathaniel, a poet, researcher, and broadcaster; Professor E. E. Sule, a prominent critic and Professor of African Literature, whose vast knowledge and critical insights have contributed significantly to the growth of African literary criticism.”
Other panelists include Bash Amuneni, a talented poet and performance artiste; Professor Udenta O. Udenta, a professor of Cultural Studies and Creative Writing; and Dr Usman Akanbi, the President of Association of Nigerian Authors, “who will also be present to provide valuable insights and perspectives on Nigerian literature and the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote and support it.”
The chief host of the event will be Arc. Chukwudi Eze, Chairman of ANA Abuja. “His dedication to fostering literary engagement in Nigeria makes him the ideal host for this important gathering,” said Quasim.
The programme, added the scribe, promised to be an enlightening and enriching experience for all participants, in addition to providing a platform for meaningful discussions, critical analyses, and creative exchanges among the panelists and attendees. The event kicks off at the aforementioned venue at 1 pm.
