A leading chieftain of the All Progress Congress (APC) and spokesperson of the Forum of Federal Government Appointees, Illiyasu Musa Kwankwaso has said that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso do not possess the requisite cross-regional appeal or followership to win a presidential election in Nigeria.
He made the assertion during an interview with media men in Kano yesterday.
He described the rivalry of both men against President Bola Tinubu as the most laughable contest in recent political history, insisting that the duo cannot match the APC and its presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.
He also alleged that Kwankwaso may be playing games as Obi’s running mate while suggesting that he may be subtly supporting a different presidential candidate for the election.
He added that Nigerians and the public will come to appreciate his suspicion as the election date draws closer.
On behalf of the members of the Forum, he expressed their unalloyed determination to ensure the success of President Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027, insisting that the administration had done well for Nigeria and Nigerians.
He urged President Tinubu to sleep well as far as the votes of the people of Northern Nigeria were concerned, adding that Kano State and Northern Nigeria were already a done deal.
He also listed several interventionist projects embarked upon by the administration in the region, adding that they spanned across all spheres of life.
He noted that they included several healthcare revitalisation projects, ecological and agricultural interventions and the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline aimed at boosting domestic gas supply, power generation across states in Northern Nigeria, among others, adding that some of these projects were in their completion stages while others have since been completed.
He insisted that these giant projects were already impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.
