The foremost Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Ahmed support group, Obi-Datti Frontiers, has berated the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, over his comment on the president of Igbo extraction.
Reacting to an interview on Arise TV where Governor Uzodimma was said to have told the Igbo to forget the 2023 election until they make peace with Nigeria, the BoT Chairman of Obi-Datti Frontiers, Onyema Anene, expressed disappointment over the statement describing it as absurd.
He said that if there was any ethnic group that had been pan-Nigeria, it was the Igbo who were found in large numbers in all the nooks and crannies of the country.
He, therefore, advised Nigerians to ignore Hope Uzodimma and vote massively for Peter Obi, who he described as the most competent of all the candidates.
His words: “We in Obi-Datti Frontiers as a disciplined and responsible organization don’t have the habit of joining words with people who make reckless and unguarded statements.
“However, I want to make one point clear: the Igbo are not in enmity with Nigeria. In fact, if there is any ethnic group that is pan-Nigeria, I want to say without any fear of contradiction that it is the Igbo. Go to any state in the country, Igbo make up at least 20 per cent of the population. And anywhere they are, they bring development. Peter Obi is running on a tripod of competence, equity and justice and he is the only candidate with the capacity to lift Nigeria out of the woods and take us to where we should be in the comity of nations.”
