The feud between the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has taken a new dimension, as the governor has reportedly redeployed the Permanent Secretary of the State Sports Commission, Mrs. Sabina Chikere, a sister-in-law to Shaibu, to the Central Admin Department, Government House in Benin City.

Until the recent redeployment, Mrs. Chikere, the elder sister to the Deputy Governor’s wife, was the General Coordinator of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, continental bound team. The redeployment of Mrs Chikere which was said have been made barely 24 hours to Bendel Insurance CAF Confederation Cup first round preliminary match against ASO Chief of Algeria, billed to take place today (Saturday) at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, has been linked by many to the feud between the governor and his deputy.

Sources said Mrs. Chikere’s rise to the position of Permanent Secretary was allegedly influenced by the estranged Deputy Governor, as she (Sabina) was not a core civil servant in Edo. Recall that the rift between governor Obaseki and his deputy blew open after  Shaibu approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to restricting the Governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Judge of Edo State and others from commencing his alleged impeachment processes.
