The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has presented its most prestigious individual honour, the Director-General’s Community Development Service (CDS) Award, to Agara Daniel, recognising him as one of the most outstanding corps members from the 2021/2022 service year.
Daniel, who completed his national service between 27 July 2021 and 26 July 2022, was singled out for his exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to community service.
He officially received the Certificate of Award from the NYSC Director-General on 8 July 2022.
The Director-General’s Award is considered the highest accolade within the NYSC programme, reserved for a select few corps members nationwide who have made extraordinary and measurable contributions.
The Rivers State Government also acknowledged Daniel’s achievements, presenting him with a separate award for his successful completion of the programme and his service year contributions. This dual recognition highlights the exceptional nature of his work at both the state and national levels.
Speaking at the national ceremony, the NYSC Director-General emphasised the competitive nature of the honour. “Each year, thousands of corps members serve across Nigeria, but only a tiny number are chosen for the Director-General’s Award,” he said. “Agara Daniel stood out for his exceptional service, his leadership in community projects, and his dedication to the ideals of the Corps. He represents the very best of our national youth.”
With both state and national awards, Daniel has joined an elite group whose service and achievements have been recognised as being truly impactful and extraordinary.
