A total of 1,905 corps members who participated in the 2023 batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course in Delta State have been posted to their places of primary assignment.
This followed the disengagement from the three-week orientation course at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent camp at Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Out of the 1,905 corps members, 891 are males while 1,014 are females.
The state coordinator of NYSC, Mr Alao Olusegun, said the majority of the corps members were deployed “to schools in the rural areas where their services are not only mostly needed but better appreciated.
“A few of them such as doctors, paramedics, engineers and others have been deployed to mostly rural-based clinics, companies and ministries.
“Deployment of these corps members were based on requests from corps employers and also on national interests.”
Olusegun urged the corps members to make a meaningful impact in their host communities during the service year.
The state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Johnson Erijo, re-assured of the state government’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members across the state.
The governor commended them for their discipline throughout the period of the orientation course and urged them to sustain the tempo as they move to the places of primary assignment.
He advised the corps members to make meaningful contributions to their host communities by embarking on life-changing but realisable projects.
Oborevwori also cautioned them against unnecessary travels, saying that Deltans were receptive and accommodating, and as such, they should see their host communities as second homes.
