The gate to the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on Saturday collapsed on a middle-aged women.
The victim was rushed in an ambulance to a yet to be disclosed medical facility within the capital city.
Sources said the condition of the victim was beyond the capacity of the clinic provided at the stadium for the on going 7th National Youth Games (NYG).
Our correspondent learnt that the unfortunate incident occurred within minutes of the commencement of the opening ceremony for the youth games.
There was no stampede to have resulted in the collapse. However, the rain was drizzling without attendant wind.
As at the time of filing this report, the condition of the victim was not ascertained.
Regardless, the games kicked off with contingents from the participating states doing the official march past in a colourful ceremony.
