In a statement made available to the media, Eze Nwokeji, who also serves as Chairman Traditional Council of Ndigbo in the UK, described Chief Nwosu as a God-fearing, trustworthy, and responsible statesman with a proven track record of leadership.

“Chief Egnr Nwosu is our illustrious son. He has served meritoriously as Vice Chairman Igbo Welfare Union(IWUG) and currently, Chairman of Nzuko Ndigbo in Glasgow. He is tasted and trusted, young, and enterprising. I have absolute confidence in his ability to deliver on a global scale if elected into the Scottish Parliament,” the monarch stated. He also advised all Nigerians, Africans and other people living in Glasgow to vote for him.

The Scottish parliamentary election, held every five years, is scheduled for May 7, 2026. Eligible voters across Scotland are expected to participate in the exercise.

Chief Nwosu, an engineer by profession, is contesting on the platform of the Scottish Common Party (SCP). His candidacy marks a historic moment, as he becomes the first Nigerian of Igbo extraction to make such a bid in Scotland.

His entry into the race has sparked widespread enthusiasm among Nigerians and the broader African community in Scotland, who view his candidacy as a significant step toward greater representation and inclusion in the country’s political landscape.
