The National Union of Printing Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPPROW) has announced the sudden death of its General Secretary, Fatai Salami at the age of 57 after a brief illness.
According to a statement jointly signed by the National President of the union, Ayokunle Olaoye and the Deputy General Secretary, Habeeb Kareem, the late Salami died on Saturday 16th September, 2017 and has since been buried according to Muslim rites.
He joined the services of the union in February 1985 as an Accountant and rose to the position of Acting General Secretary in 1999 and was eventually confirmed substantive General Secretary, the position he held until his death.
The Fidau prayer/final burial ceremony, the union said will take place on Saturday, 23rd, September, 2017 at his residence, 4 Abdullahi Chukwu street, Otun Bus stop, Ipaja, Command in Alimosho local government area of Lagos state.
The late Salami is survived by wives, three children as well as brothers and sisters.
