The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) and Siemens Healthineers have signed a 10-year strategic partnership designed to significantly strengthen Nigeria’s medical imaging capacity and modernise diagnostic healthcare nationwide.
The agreement, unveiled at the 2025 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago, deepens an already existing collaboration between the two institutions and represents one of the most comprehensive long-term healthcare technology commitments in Nigeria to date. The partnership will support NSIA’s healthcare subsidiary, MedServe, as it accelerates its expansion of diagnostic services.
Under the first phase of the deal, Siemens Healthineers will equip 10 newly established MedServe diagnostic centres across the country with advanced imaging systems. The facilities, expected to become operational soon, will offer Nigerians broader access to high-quality diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT, X-ray and ultrasound, helping to reduce delays in diagnosis and improve clinical outcomes.
Dr Tolulope Adewole, Managing Director and CEO of MedServe, described the initiative as a critical milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure. “This 10-year partnership with Siemens Healthineers is a pivotal step in our mission to build a resilient and sustainable advanced healthcare system,” he said. “By consolidating our collaboration with a trusted global technology leader, we are not only securing essential equipment but also investing in capacity-building that will develop local expertise for years to come.”
Beyond supplying equipment, the partnership places strong emphasis on skills development and long-term sustainability. Siemens Healthineers will provide comprehensive training programmes for Nigerian radiographers, biomedical engineers, clinicians and technical specialists to ensure reliable operation and maintenance of the equipment.

This agreement reflects our shared long-term commitment to strengthen healthcare delivery in Nigeria through world-class technology, deep expertise and continuous training.”
Industry observers noted that the MedServe–Siemens partnership aligns with broader efforts to close Nigeria’s diagnostic gap, improve early detection of diseases, and reduce medical tourism by offering world-class services locally.
NSIA reaffirmed that MedServe will continue to drive equitable access to healthcare through strategic partnerships, capacity development and sustained investment in modern infrastructure.
Siemens Healthineers, active in more than 180 countries, remains one of the world’s leading providers of medical technology across imaging, diagnostics, cancer care and minimally invasive therapies. The company reported €23.4 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 74,000 people globally.
