Tragedy has hit Team Imo at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Delta State as a result of the death of one of it’s boxers.
Although the true cause of death is yet to be established, the deceased boxer was said to have received a punch in his chin.
It was learnt that the officiating referee had to stop the match when the boxer failed to recover.
“He was immediately taken out of the ring for medical treatment before being rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead,” a source said.
Details about the deceased boxer were not known, as organisers of the games said the real cause of death has not be established.
