NPFL: Rangers fall in Ibadan, dethroned from league top

Rangers hope of winning this year’s league title suffered a setback yesterday in Ibadan where they lost 1-2 to relegation threatened 3SC.
No thanks to the defeat, the Flying Antelope lost their leadership of the league as Rivers United climbed to the top. Rivers United playing at home recorded a 3-1 win over Warri Wolves.
Rivers United now leads the tablw with 56 points from 33 matches, while Rangers are coming a close second with 54 points from same number of matches. FC IfeantiUbah brightened their chances of ended the season with at least a continental ticket with a 2-0 home win over Akwa United.
Wikki Tourists which had some weeks back led the pack suffered another defeat against Nasarawa United in a game they were leading 1-0 until the last 10 minutes when they allowed their hosts to equalize and score the winner.
Despite being confirmed for relegation, Ikorodu United continued to impress as they defeated Kano Pillars by 4-1 at their new Abeokuta home. The Oga Boys had last weekend recorded a 1-0 away win over Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
