Eight times Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enyimba International of Aba looks set to be crowned the winner of the NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation pre-season championship after amassing the maximum six points from the first two matches.
The Peoples Elephant pipped Eastern rival, Rangers International of Enugu 1-0 on the opening day and yesterday defeated Bendel Insurance of Benin 4-3, leaving Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan to second spot on four points after the Oluyole Warriors forced the Coal City side to a 1-1 draw in the second match.
Today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium), Lagos, a win for the Aba team will guarantee nine points devoid of the outcome between Bendel Insurance and Rangers in the other match of the day.
The first and the second placed teams on the log after match day 3 will clash in the final on Friday.
Meanwhile, Chijioke Mbaoma, who notched a hat trick in the 4-3 win against Bendel Insurance to pick the Most Valuable Player (MVP), has predicted Enyimba to win the N100 million prize package.
The former Heartland player said after the match that his goals are a sign of what he’s bringing on the field to Enyimba.
“I joined Enyimba to score goals and it has only started from this tournament which I have the confidence we will win,” Mbaoma told the media.
