The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Apapa Port Manager, Debo Lawal, has said the reviewed electronic call up ETO system which commenced on Monday aligns with global best operational standards and would curb lapses at the port.

“The review will bring proper orderliness. For example,  trucks assigned for APMT cannot mistakingly access the ENL terminal, as barriers are now automated with the ETO system,” he explained.

Lawal also noted that all the five terminals at Apapa Port would now operate with specific colour code and serial numbers to prevent unauthorised truck movements.

The manager added that the reviewed system, among other benefits, would put a halt to a situation where trucks with containers and exports linger around the port in search of alternative business opportunities. “Truck must also pass through government approval, reduce congestion within and outside the port, improve efficiency and also advance ease of doing business,” he concluded.
