The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has announced the death of its pioneer spokesperson and founding member, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulazeez, describing his passing as a devastating loss to Northern Nigeria and the nation.
In a statement by the national coordinator of the coalition, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group said Abdulazeez was a fearless advocate for justice, education, equity and social reform, whose voice shaped public discourse across the North.
The coalition noted that he served as pioneer spokesperson of the CNG and former spokesperson of the Northern Elders’ Forum, where he championed causes aimed at tackling injustice, insecurity, illiteracy and inequality.
According to the statement, the late elder statesman remained committed to the advancement of Northern Nigeria and national unity until his final moments.
“Through wisdom, courage and uncommon patriotism, he dedicated his life to confronting injustice, illiteracy, insecurity and social inequality,” Charanchi said.
