The Northern Delegates Forum (NDF), a body of representatives of the region to the 2014 National Conference has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their remarkable feats in decimating Boko Haram insurgents in the North East, even as it linked the spate of suicide bombing in Borno State to the routing  of the terrorists.

Chairman of NDF’s legal and strategy committee, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, who spoke at an event, in Abuja, described the capture and dislodgement of insurgents from Sambisa forest as a tremendous success in the fight against insurgency.

He noted that the seeming increase in suicide bombing of soft targets by some regrouped insurgents was indicative of frustration and desperation.

Said he, “It is obvious that since the capture of the Sambisa forest by the Nigerian Armed Forces, elements of the Boko Haram that escaped have regrouped and are operating in pockets launching suicide bomb attacks on unsuspecting soft targets in Borno, suicide bombing experienced on a fairly regular basis is a sign of the dislodgement that the members of this sect have been subjected to,” Dalhatu stated.

He, therefore, urged the security agencies not to rest on their oars until Boko Haram was totally flushed out of the north east and indeed Nigeria.

The group further commended the determination of government in giving the gallant armed forces the much needed supports.

Also, the NDF has called on governors of north central states to key into the joint security initiative of their counterparts in the northwest in collaboration with federal security forces in tackling cattle rustling and rural armed banditry.
