The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has said the North Central geopolitical zone looks up to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume to drive the needed leadership for the region and the country in general.
He expressed readiness for a stronger strategic collaboration with the SGF to deliver on the expectations of President Bola Tinubu in Plateau State, the North Central region and Nigeria in general in the renewed hope drive for good governance to the people of the country by the president.
Governor Mutfwang stated this when he led a delegation from Plateau State on a courtesy visit to the SGF, in his office in Abuja where he equally congratulated him on his appointment by President Tinubu, describing it as a well-deserved appointment.
He said, “I am happy that Mr President deemed it fit to bring you to this enviable office which automatically makes you the most senior public servant from North Central Nigeria.
“Therefore, we have come to congratulate you and to identify with you as our leader and to remind you that we, from the North Central will be looking up to you for leadership as we chart a new course for our people.”
Governor Mutfwang noted that despite the different political platforms they both belong to, the interest of the Plateau people and the North Central region is beyond any platform and pledged the support and loyalty of the people of Plateau to him at all times.
“Your Excellency, we are here with a delegation from Plateau State to formally congratulate you on behalf of the good people of Plateau State on your well-deserved appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“Together with distinguished Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, we have come to intimate you that although we may be from different political platforms we know that the interest of our people is beyond platforms.”
Governor Mutfwang assured the SGF thus, “We will be willing to provide strategic collaboration in the course of our tenure by the grace of God in order to ensure that our people get the value for their contributions to the government at different levels.
“We wish you a very successful tenure that will make North Central and the entire Nigeria very proud. We are confident that you have what it takes to deliver on the expectations of Mr President and the good people of North Central Nigeria,” he stated.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume expressed gratitude to the Governor and his delegation for the visit and explained that President Bola Tinubu acknowledges the diversity of Nigeria and is ready to carry every part of the country in his administration.
He said the renewed hope of President Tinubu is already appealing to citizens of the country with the appointments of Service Chiefs, where the entire nation is being represented for inclusiveness.
Sen. Akume assured Nigerians that President Tinubu will restructure the economy of the country to benefit everybody and promised to collaborate with Governor Mutfwang, the people of Plateau state and North Central to promote peace and unity in the country.
Those in the entourage of Governor Mutfwang included Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Plateau North, Sen. Simon Mwadkwon; Senator representing Plateau South, Sen. Napoleon Bali; Member representing Jos South/Jos East constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos.
Also in the delegation were the Member representing Bassa/Jos North in the House of Representatives, Hon. Musa Agah Avia; Member representing Barkin-Ladi/Riyom in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Peter Gyendeng; Member representing Mikang/Quan’pan/Shendam in the House of Representatives, Hon. Isaac Kwallu among others.
