Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood, is set for a major international spotlight as the Windsor International Black Film Festival (WIBFF) and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) have partnered to showcase Nigerian culture and creative talent at the 2026 edition of the festival in Canada.
The festival, scheduled to hold from August 13 to 16 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, will feature a special Nollywood Micro Section, The Actors Marketplace (TAMP) aimed at connecting Nigerian actors and filmmakers with major international players in the global film industry.
Speaking during a press briefing in Enugu, President and Festival Director of WIBFF, Queen Eghujovbo Dr. Queen Eghujovbo, represented by WIBFF Coordinator Crown Prince Alexander Chukwudinma Nwokeabia, described the collaboration as a strategic effort to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Africa and the global Black community through film.
According to her, TAMP will create opportunities for Nigerian creatives to engage directly with international casting directors, producers, distributors, studio executives, talent agents and film investors from Africa, North America, Europe, the Caribbean and South America.
“Nollywood is a major force in global cinema. This platform will provide Nigerian actors and filmmakers opportunities to access international markets, secure representation, explore co-production deals and establish strategic partnerships worldwide,” she said.
WIBFF also praised AGN’s leadership for advancing the interests of Nigerian actors and acknowledged the contributions of Steve Eboh Chief Steve Eboh in facilitating the partnership.
Earlier, Eboh described the Canada edition of the AGN International Festival as a major breakthrough for Nigerian actors seeking global relevance.
“The Canada edition of the AGN International Festival represents another significant milestone in our efforts to position Nigerian actors within the international film market and create access to global opportunities,” he said.
He urged governments, corporate organisations and investors to support the initiative, stressing that the creative industry remains a powerful tool for economic growth, youth empowerment and cultural diplomacy.
