The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to access the on-going social and economic welfare schemes introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lafia yesterday, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Onilu, stated that the programmes were designed to alleviate the current hardships being faced by Nigerians
Onilu, who was represented by Mallam Haruna Sule, emphasised that citizens must actively seek out the available welfare initiatives.
“We are aware of the challenges, but people need to access the on-going socio-economic schemes meant to cushion the hardship. No government wants its people to suffer. It’s not about sitting down to complain but about accessing these programmes,” Onilu remarked.
He listed over 15 policies and programmes, including the student loan scheme, that have been implemented to support citizens and improve their living conditions.
Speaking on the national value campaign, Onilu stressed that the initiative seeks to enhance citizen engagement and deepen the understanding of national values.
“The National Anthem embodies our identity and unity as a country. Every line is a reminder of our commitment to nation-building, and we must encourage all Nigerians to internalize these values,” he stated.
Onilu added that the initiative aligns with Tinubu’s administration’s goal of improving citizens’ welfare and promoting national development through effective communication at the grassroots level.
Nasarawa State Director of NOA, Dr Priscilla Goanduoalour, also emphasised the importance of the National Values Charter, calling it a vital tool for reinforcing mutual respect and strengthening the bond between the people and their leaders.
“The campaign will be implemented across communities nationwide, focusing on educating citizens about the anthem’s significance and inspiring a renewed sense of national pride,” she added.
