No crisis in Imo CAN, holds Christmas carol

The Imo state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), and President of the Imo Baptist Convention, Rev Uzoma Uzoechi has debunked insinuation in some quarters of internal crisis within Christian body in the state.

Rev Uzoma who stated this Friday during the 2025 Christmas Carol organized by the Association, said the Christian body is one in the state and that they are moving forward.

“There is no Crisis in Imo state Christian Association of Nigerian, we are one, we are moving forward and no plans of the devil can destabilize the association. This event is a witness to our shared commitment to ecumenism and unity of Imo CAN”.

He said that this year’s Carol which has the theme, ” Jesus Christ : The Gift of Hope , ‘reminds us that our Lord is the answer to the challenges of our time. In a world beset by uncertainty,strife ,and despair,Jesus Christ offers us hope, peace and redemption.

Uzoechi thanked the Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his support to the body in the state as well as his tireless efforts towards the development of the state .

” In a special way, I thank his Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his cordial relationship with the church and his tireless efforts towards the development of Imo state . Your support and commitment to the welfare of our people are deeply appreciated.”

Governor Hope Uzodimma who was represented by his Special Adviser on Religious Affair ,Dr Eches Divine Eches,said that the gift of Christmas is that of peace , salvation and hope to humanity regardless of one’s domination.

Eches who was the immediate past Chairman of Imo CAN, said that christians are yet to grasp the real significance of the three gifts presented to Jesus Christ at his birth by the three wise men from the east .
He said , ” Do not think only of yourself, your family , always consider humanity. Don’t say I have nothing to give this season . If you can’t give cash , give peace . If you can’t give peace , give words of encouragement and offer prayers . It is a gift from the heart.”

He added, “Governor Uzodimma has been supporting the CAN in the state. He has sponsored over two thousand Christians to pilgrimage to the holy land since assumed the governorship of the state and will sponsor more . We can’t thank him enough for caring for the church in the state. ”

Earlier in his homily , Bishop Maxwell Korie , Chairman of CAN, southern Region who spoke on the significance of the the three gifts given to Jesus Christ by the three wise men.

He the significance of the gifts by the wise men to Jesus Christ was symbolic.

” Gold is kingship, this means that he is coming to make us his people a royalty and to take dominion over all circumstances. Through his death we were made kings before God. Frankincense implies worshipping God in spirit and truth and religion. He came to give us life more abundantly.And , the last one is Myrrh which means ingredients of consecration. With the birth of Jesus Christ the holy spirit now dwells you and me “. He explained.

The Christmas Carol was attended by different choral groups from all the churches from the four blocs that makes up the Imo state CAN.
