The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People Party, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, has called for the arrest and prosecution of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Abdullahi Abbas.

He accused the party chairman of invading his polling unit and their constituency with thugs and political touts in clear breach of the electoral act.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at Diso/Chiranchi Ward in Gwale Local Government Area, he insisted that Abdullahi Abbas must be arrested for the misconduct of his thugs at the polling units.

Abba charged the security agencies to ensure adequate security for voters across the state while performing their civic responsibility without any fear of intimidation or harassment.

Abba expressed satisfaction with the conduct of INEC, noting that election materials were delivered on time across the state and that the behaviours of its staff were above board.

H expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious at the polls, saying his confidence was born out of the enormous love he enjoys from the good people of the state.

However, there were pockets of violence in some polling units and wards in the state, resulting in the smashing of ballot boxes in some cases, voter intimidation and other firms of electoral breaches and malpractices.

Some of these incidents occurred in Chiranchi Ward in Gwale Local Government Area, Sanya Ward in Wudil Local Government Area and Maigari Ward in Rimin – gado Local Government Area, among several others.
