NIS decorates 43 newly promoted officers in Anambra

The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), on Friday, decorated 43 of its officers who were recently promoted to higher ranks in the service.

The exercise was carried out by the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration (ACG), Dominic Asogwa, who’s in charge of Zone G comprising Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Anambra and Enugu States.

A breakdown of the figure shows that one Chief Superintendent of Immigration was promoted to Assistant Comptroller of Immigration; four Superintendent of Immigration to Chief Superintendent Immigration and six Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1 to Deputy Superintendent of Immigration.

Others are 19 Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II who were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1. In addition to that, 13 junior personnel were upgraded to Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1.

ACG Asogwa, who was assisted by the Comptroller of Immigration in the state, Ngozi Odikpo, and other senior officers of the command during the decoration exercise, charged the officers not to slack off on their duty posts.

He commended the Comptroller of the command, Odikpo, for the wonderful works she’s doing in the state, saying that the command under her watch has stood out as the best of all others under his control.

In her speech, Odikpo said that she was humbled by the high rating given to her by the ACG and attributed it to the cooperation she received from her staff.

She said that she, alongside her team, took her job seriously and in accordance with the laid down rules guiding the immigration service, adding that the command also works as a team.

“I wouldn’t know what others are doing but here, we try to take our responsibilities to the very highest level. We place a lot of premium on excellent service delivery.

“We have a very active SERVICOM unit and we make sure that we are always on our toes to make sure that our guests are treated according to the way the service expects us to treat them”, Odikpo said.
