Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), on Thursday, February 19, clinched the Global Public Relations Association of the Year award at the World Public Relations and Communication Awards 2025, organised by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.

In a statement by the acting Director, Public Relations, Duke Imandu, the victory was announced in Lisbon, Portugal, after a fierce global competition that drew 89 entries from 19 countries. The award celebrates NIPR’s exemplary leadership in professional regulation, reputation governance, ethical standards, strategic communication advocacy and its bold reforms elevating public relations as a key engine for national development.

Reacting to the news, NIPR’s acting President, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, hailed the honour as a defining global endorsement of Nigerian professionalism and excellence in public relations.

“This is not just a trophy. It is evidence that disciplined reform and institutional courage yield results. Nigeria is no longer observing global reputation conversations from the sidelines; we are influencing them,” Prof. Dandaura stated.

He praised NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, for his “purposeful and visionary leadership” that has boosted the institute’s national relevance and international profile. Dandaura also congratulated member-agency Chain Reactions for winning the “Internal Communication Campaign” category with their entry, ‘Next Era of Happiness: Managing Change and Employee.’

The acting president thanked the past leaders for building the foundation, current council members for sustaining reforms and young professionals nationwide as the vanguard of strategic communication.

The Global Alliance Awards spotlight innovation, impact, ethics and professional growth in public relations across sectors and regions. Trophies will be formally presented at the Global Alliance World Public Relations Forum 2026, set for November 15 to 21 in Abuja, Nigeria.
