Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has described as ‘untrue’, dead rumour of Chairman, NIPCO Limited Plc., Bestman Anekwe.
ALGON Secretary, Board of Trustees, Chukwudi Ezinwa, in a statement, yesterday, warned those peddling the falsehood on social media, to desist forthwith.
Ezinwa expressed disappointment that Adazi ENU Facebook and Phoenix had chosen to peddle fake news, emphasising the importance of verifying information to avoid credibility issues and potential harm to individuals and families.
The national ex-officio member of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said: “Although the chairman of NIPCO Plc. lost his wife to the cold hands of death and wake-keep has taken place on Monday.
“The public should, however, disregard this unfounded rumours and urged information pedlars to always verify information through credible sources before sharing.
“Let us respect the privacy and dignity of Anekwe and his family.
“This disclaimer serves as a clarification to the public, and all are advised to be cautious of fake news and verify information before sharing.”
