NiKCCIMA admitted as NACCIMA member

Nigeria-Kenya Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NiKCCIMA) has been admitted as a member of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), the apex body of Nigeria’s organised private sector.

NiKCCIMA was admitted at NACCIMA’s 67th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Enugu State.

NiKCCIMA was one of several chambers admitted at the meeting, alongside the Ikere Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

The founder and Global President of NiKCCIMA, Architect Roberts Achanya, described the admission as an epoch development for the bilateral chamber.

“This is a validation of our vision and mission to expand South-South and intra-African co-operation under the African Continental Free Trade Area. It strengthens Nigeria’s export drive and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) expansion agenda under the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It moves us closer to Nigeria’s ambition of a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030,” he said.

Achanya declared that NiKCCIMA was built on nearly three decades of founding members’ experience in international trade facilitation, public-private partnerships and cross-border trade across Asia and Africa. The chamber, he noted, operates on a single structure: one global secretariat, two national chapters, and what its charter calls a two-key principle, under which Nigerian and Kenyan officers share authority equally.

According to Achanya, NiKCCIMA already has legal existence in Nigeria and its Kenyan chapter is completing registration with the Kenyan Registrar of Companies.

NiKCCIMA’s Director-General, Alhaji Abdullahi Usman Maikano, said the NACCIMA admission was earned rather than granted.

“NACCIMA does not admit chambers on promise. It admits them on structure, on governance, and on evidence of real work,” he said, adding that membership confirms that NiKCCIMA is recognised, alongside Nigeria’s most established chambers, as a serious institution for the Nigeria-Kenya corridor.

The chamber’s national chairman, Alhaji Badamasi Burji, who is also chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Class Group, said the admission would energise NiKCCIMA’s Global Advisory Council.

“Our Global Advisory Council brings together some of the most active entrepreneurs and traders in both Nigeria and Kenya.”

“Their appetite for this corridor is real, and NACCIMA membership gives that appetite a stronger institutional home. The admission comes months after NiKCCIMA curated the Nigeria-Kenya Blue and Orange Economy Mission in June.”

“That mission produced preliminary agreements on a West-East African Maritime Trade Corridor, aquaculture technology transfer, and a plan to benchmark Nigerian inland-waterway revenue systems against Kenya’s. The chamber has since activated its deal room and one-desk services, which screen and match trade leads between Nigerian and Kenyan businesses,” Burji said.

The chairman reiterated that NACCIMA membership gives NiKCCIMA a formal seat inside Nigeria’s private-sector policy architecture, along with access to NACCIMA’s chamber network across all six geopolitical zones and its relationships with government ministries, development partners and diplomatic missions in Abuja.

In a statement, NiKCCIMA said it will hold its maiden business forum and formal launch on 8 October 2026 in Abuja.

The event, co-hosted with the High Commission of Kenya, will be formally launched by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Isaac Keen Parashina, under the theme: “Nigeria-Kenya Trade Corridor: Pathways for AfCFTA and Bilateral Trade.”

The forum will also preview a joint NiKCCIMA-Kenya High Commission Trade and Investment Mission set for November, which will carry both a commercial delegation of exporters and processors and a separate delegation of Nigerian state revenue officials studying Kenyan revenue models. After the launch, NiKCCIMA said its priorities would turn to completing the Kenyan chapter’s structuring, onboarding its global advisory and bilateral councils, and preparing for the November mission.

Recall that NiKCCIMA is a bilateral chamber facilitating trade, investment, and collaboration between Nigeria and Kenya under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
