Founder of Beyond Boundaries, Olu Olufemi-White, has declared that the Young Women in Leadership Conference 2025, held recently at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, has set a new benchmark for empowering women across Nigeria.
Organized by Beyond Boundaries in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, the conference provided a platform to break longstanding invisible barriers limiting women’s participation in national leadership and wealth creation.
Olufemi-White described the event as more than just another conference, calling it a bold statement that young Nigerian women — particularly those between the ages of 21 and 35 — are no longer waiting for inclusion in leadership conversations but are now actively taking their rightful place.
The conference attracted a lineup of notable leaders and change-makers, including Ministers Hannatu Musa Musawa and Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Owen Omogiafo, Ibukun Oyedeji, award-winning singer Teniola Apata, Banke Meshida-Lawal, Iyioluwa Aboyeji, and others, whose stories of perseverance and purpose set an inspiring tone for the day.
“What set the event apart was not just the inspiring speeches, but the tangible opportunities created,” Olufemi-White emphasized.
Several participants received scholarships for digital literacy courses — a strategic investment in equipping young women with the skills needed to lead and thrive in an increasingly digital economy. In addition, solar panels were distributed through raffle draws, providing winners with a sustainable solution to energy access, enabling extended study, work, and entrepreneurial activities without disruption.
One participant captured the spirit of the day, saying: “I came seeking inspiration; I left with tools, hope, and a plan for my future.”
Reflecting on the significance of the event, Olufemi-White noted that bringing young women into such a historic space redefined leadership standards. “Leadership is no longer determined by age, gender, or circumstance, but by vision, courage, and opportunity,” she stated.
“If the energy in that hall is anything to go by, then the future of Nigeria’s leadership is female, digitally empowered, and financially astute,” she concluded.
